The five towns we cover show how varied it is. Oxford is academic, clinical, publishing-heavy and full of start-ups, consultancies and tourism businesses. Banbury, in the north, is an industrial market town with food processing, including a very large coffee factory, and motorsport engineering. Bicester has grown fast around Bicester Village and the historic motoring and mobility businesses at Bicester Motion, the former RAF airfield. Witney is a West Oxfordshire market town with a blanket-making past and busy industrial estates. Abingdon, next to Milton Park, has science, engineering and MG heritage. That spread takes us from lab data tools to outlet retail logistics.
Oxfordshire is within easy reach. Bicester and Banbury are around an hour from Wellingborough via the A43 and M40, and Oxford, Abingdon and Witney are a little further on. That means in-person discovery, lab or workshop visits and training sessions are practical to arrange. The day-to-day build is remote, with a weekly call, a shared board and staging sites, which suits research teams and engineers who are used to distributed collaboration. We plan visits around term dates and events where they affect your team.
