The towns we cover pull in different directions. Chelmsford, the county town and a city since 2012, is heavy on insurance, finance, public administration and electronics. Colchester, a garrison town that gained city status in 2022, combines the military, the university and a large independent retail and heritage offer. Southend-on-Sea mixes seaside tourism, healthcare and medical-device manufacturing, plus the airport. Basildon is a new town with a large manufacturing and business-park economy. Braintree, on the A120, carries manufacturing roots from Courtauld and Crittall alongside retail and logistics. Across them, the common thread is lots of owner-managed firms needing systems that grow with them.
Essex is not close to Wellingborough. It is roughly two hours by the A14 and M11, or longer depending on which end of the county you are in, so we run Essex projects remotely and say so upfront. That works well in practice: weekly calls, a shared board and staging sites you can use at any time. We travel down for the sessions that benefit from being in person, usually a discovery workshop at the outset and a training or launch visit at the end. You will always know who is building your software.
