The five places we cover look quite different up close. Cambridge is dominated by spin-outs, labs, consultancies and the professional firms serving them, plus a heavy tourism and hospitality load. Peterborough is bigger on warehousing, manufacturing, finance operations and public services. Ely is a small cathedral city balancing tourism, farming and commuters heading to Cambridge. Huntingdon has manufacturers, logistics and healthcare around Hinchingbrooke, plus military sites nearby. St Neots, on the Great Ouse, is a growing commuter town with light industry and trades. That spread means Cambridge clients often want data tools and investor-grade websites, while the north of the county leans towards operational systems.
Western Cambridgeshire is close to home for us. St Neots and Huntingdon are well under an hour from Wellingborough, Peterborough is a similar run up the A605, and Cambridge is a straightforward drive along the A14. That makes it practical to meet in person for discovery sessions, user testing on a warehouse floor or a lab bench, and training when a system goes live. The build itself is remote: weekly calls, a shared board and staging environments. Ely and the Fens are a little further but still an easy day out.
