Businesses in the science supply chain face a particular kind of pressure. Their customers are technical, procurement is formal, and every part or service needs documentation that stands up to scrutiny. Small engineering and instrument firms often manage that with folders and spreadsheets. Schools carry heavy administrative loads around admissions, trips, fees and parent communication. Town-centre businesses, meanwhile, work without a railway station of their own, so they depend on local residents and people arriving by car and bus. Each group needs better systems, but for quite different reasons.
Versatech works from Wellingborough, about an hour and twenty minutes from Abingdon via the M40 and A34. We run projects remotely, with frequent working demos and a shared place to track decisions, and travel down for discovery workshops, user testing with staff and launch. We do not have a local office and will not claim one. For science-linked firms we are used to working within formal procurement and security requirements, and we plan for them from the start.
