The four towns we cover stand on quite different footing. Bedford is the county town, with a borough council, a university campus, a large Italian community rooted in the old brickworks and a steady base of law and accountancy practices. Luton is bigger and louder, driven by the airport, the University of Bedfordshire and a manufacturing history that has had to adjust as vehicle production wound down. Dunstable and Leighton Buzzard, both in Central Bedfordshire, lean towards warehousing, trade suppliers and manufacturers that chose them for the A5 and M1. In practice Bedford organisations tend to ask about client portals and better professional websites, while the southern towns more often need stock, dispatch and shift systems.
Bedfordshire is the easiest county for us to reach outside Northamptonshire. Bedford is a straight run down the A6 from Wellingborough, and Luton and Dunstable sit a little further on via the A6 or the M1. That makes in-person sessions a normal part of a project rather than a special trip. We can spend a morning with a Bedford finance team or walk a Dunstable warehouse floor before scoping anything. Day-to-day delivery is remote, with shared boards, weekly calls and staged releases, but we are glad to be in the room whenever it genuinely helps.
