Ely's organisations are mostly small, and their friction reflects that. Tourist and events businesses see heavy weekends and quiet midweek periods, often managing bookings in a patchwork of tools. Growers and packers must keep crop, spray and batch records to satisfy supermarket and assurance audits, frequently on paper in the field. Schools and charities run admissions, lettings and fundraising with limited staff. A growing number of residents work from home or run consultancies serving Cambridge clients, and need professional systems without building an IT department.
Getting to Ely from our Wellingborough base takes about an hour and a quarter, along the A14 and then over the Fens. Projects are delivered mostly remotely, with regular short reviews and a test version to try as we build. We come to Ely for discovery, to see a farm office, packhouse or venue for ourselves, and for training at launch. We don't have an office in the city and don't imply one.
