Made-to-order furniture creates a very particular kind of digital friction. Every sofa is a combination of model, size, fabric, leg finish and cushion fill, and each order passes through frame, cutting, sewing and upholstery before a two-person delivery. Customers wait weeks and want to know where their order is. Retail partners want accurate lead times. Workshops juggle fabric stock, fire safety labelling and damaged-in-transit claims. Much of this still runs on paper job tickets, spreadsheets and phone calls, and it strains badly when order volumes jump after a big promotion.
Versatech is in Wellingborough, about an hour's drive up the M1 to junction 25. Day-to-day delivery happens online, with regular reviews and a shared test system, and we come to Long Eaton for the parts that need eyes on the process: walking an order through the workshop, sitting with the people who schedule production and training teams at go-live. We don't have an office in the town and won't pretend otherwise.
