Friction in Leicester tends to follow its family-business character. Many firms are owned and run across generations, grew through trade and relationships, and now face customers and regulators who expect digital records. Clothing makers are asked to evidence ethical sourcing and wages. Wholesalers and importers along Belgrave and beyond juggle stock across warehouses and orders arriving through WhatsApp, phone and marketplace. Retailers on the Golden Mile serve customers from across the country who shop online and in person for weddings and festivals. Research spin-outs and space firms need reporting robust enough for funders and primes.
Versatech is based in Wellingborough, about fifty minutes from Leicester up the A6 through Kettering and Market Harborough. That makes the city one of the easier places for us to visit, and we are happy to spend time on factory floors, in warehouses and in shops to understand how work really moves. Delivery itself is mostly remote, with regular demos and a shared project board. We do not have a Leicester office.
